My name is Warren Hatcher and I have lived and hunted in Western Wyoming for the past 20 years. I was blessed to be born to parents who both hunted and who were pioneers of Bowhunting in the region around our NW Florida home. Bowhunting is a particular passion of mine and I started bowhunting whitetails alone at the ripe old age of 7. I now have 40 years of bowhunting experience under my belt and continue to learn more every season. With rifle and bow I have been fortunate to take whitetails, mulies, antelope, black bear, Elk, Shiras Moose, Bighorn Sheep and Bison over the past seasons here in Wyoming. Elk are a favorite quarry and I have tagged 20 in the past 20 seasons including 10 bulls by bow. I have been involved in outdoor videography for about 8 years and co-produced a Mule Deer DVD which was a very educational process in filming, writing and editing.
My wife Laura and I have 4 boys at home from 8-15 years of age. Lately my main outdoor focus is getting my sons afield as much as possible and videoing them in their pursuits. Be it after Turkey on the Solitude Ranch in the Black Hills or a quick shed hunting walk in the afternoon. As you know kids have a lot of activities (and inactivaties!) vying for their attention these days. I firmly believe the values instilled by an Outdoor Lifestyle are important for raising a child in this modern world. When the boys are in school during season I dedicate myself to fulfilling my goal of a 330” bull elk with bow.
I have known Mike Schmid essentially since moving here and we have shared quite a few memorable hunts over the years. I first met Jim Sessions long enough ago that we were both slim and had long flowing locks of hair. I met Dean shortly after thru work and 3-d shoots. One thing these men have in common is that there are no specie of Western Big Game animal that they are not expert at hunting and no terrain they have not conquered. Be it the highest peaks of Colorado or the far reaches of the Yukon, these guys have “been there and done that”. And now they are capturing the experience on film for you.
I am pleased to be a part of the Intrepid Outdoors Team and to help bring entertaining & real hunts to you each week. I am especially excited by Intrepid Outdoors commitment to have a “Get a Child in the Wild “ segment in each and every episode. Kids watching other kid’s success will gain confidence and develop a desire to get out there and do it themselves. I firmly believe that now, more than ever, we all must work to expose as many young people as possible to this lifestyle we all hold dear. They truly are the future of our sport.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions on Public Land Western hunting, be it baiting for Spring Black Bear, bowhunting for Elk or Archery Antelope out of the blind. I’ll be glad to help.
