My name is Jay Norman, I grew up in southern California and always had an interest in the outdoors. I would always try to find places or things to do with my friends that would take us out of the city environment such as camping, fishing, or riding dirt bikes in the desert. It wasn't until I graduated High school and moved to Wyoming to live with my father that I started to hunt for big game. My Dad has always been an outdoorsman and has taught me most of my hunting skills and respect for the outdoors.
The first two years living in Wyoming I didn't get to do much hunting because I worked in a butcher shop during the hunting season in Pinedale. I saw and processed a lot of wild game. I skinned more animals in a season than most people have ever killed in there entire lifetime. I would love to hear the hunting stories as they would unload their animal into the skinning room and they would be still amped up when telling their story. I would get one weekend off from the butcher shop to go hunting and I would take off to the Wind River mountains with my dad to hunt elk and deer. In the off season my dad and I would do a lot of camping, fishing, and horn hunting.
In about the year 2000 I started to work in the oilfield for S.O.S. well service and that was where I met Mike Schmid. I would hear stories about some of his hunts and later be invited to go on some of these hunts with him. I was fortunate to be two awesome hunts one was a river bottom bull moose and the other a big horn sheep hunt in the Wind River Range. That's where Mike noticed my ambition and love for hunting and gave me the opportunity to come work for him on the Solitude Ranch as ranch hand in the off season and an awesome guide during the hunting season and now that i am involved with Intrepid Outdoors and team Intrepid I look forward to bringing you nonstop action packed hunts in the future.
