Jon Bloom

My name is Jon Bloom, I started life on this planet in Powell Wyoming in the northwest corner of the state on october 13th 1960. As a young kid growing up there, I had many outdoor adventures to experience. My father loved the outdoors, the backcountry and took me on some spectacular trips as a young boy. We had a family boat which we kept on Yellowstone lake in the first National Park that Teddy Rooosevelt set aside. What an awesome place to spend the summers fishing, exploring and dodging the grizzly bears, on your way to toilets at the marina, after dark! No commercialization up to that point, just wide open spaces and wild animals everywhere. At the ripe young age of 10, I met Jim Sessions and an immediate bond and special friendship began to grow. I remember our mothers dropping us off on the river or in the hills for the day when we first got our 22 rifles. We felt like mountain men exploring the river bottoms, and the hills of Park County. Each trip we increased our knowledge of the outdoors, and the habits of the the wildlife.
When the day ariived that we had our own wheels, the perimeter ot our exploring and outdoor adventures grew greatly. We became better outdoorsmen, and began hunting new places and a variety of states, each year learing how to apply and research new experiences. Although our work took us to different parts of the state, the mileage never seperated our friendship and we still manged to hunt and fish all over the lower 48, and Alaska with a few of our chosen friends from a very special "club". I have been blessed to have had the oportunity to harvest Bighorn sheep, Mountain goat, Moose, Mountain Lion, several Nice Whitetail deer, Elk, and Antelope with a variety of weapons, all over this planet. I've also been fortunate enough to have good friend Jim Sessions by my side.
Jim introduced me to the "camera" after succesfully filming and producing some bo-datious mule deer videos. The more I carried a camera in the field the more addicted I became. It was far more challenging and rewarding than telling the "story" to capture all the chapters on video . Jim and I decided to give the outfitting industry a quick try and put together a video of our sevices. After a short lived taste of that we both realized that type of business was not that appealing. At that point I met Dean Taylor and a magnetic bond grew with him also. We all spent great adventures together in the field hunting and fishing.
Having a wonderful wife (cindy) of 22 years and my two beautiful children, Skyler and Brennae, I made a promise to myself to be the best dad I could possibly be. I wanted to be with them for all their activities and share and teach them both my love and respect for the outdoors and wild places. I continued to film any time I could over the years raising teenagers and captured some incredible hunting and fishing trips with both of them and their friends. As Jim worked through the ups and downs of several different TV programs, he always kept me in the loop. Through those friendships I have been blessed to become friends with Bob Lott, Mike Schmid as well as the friends in their loop.
I Truly believe that Intrepid Outdoors will continue to motivate and excite all our viewers to go experience all that is out there as I truly believe there's much more than just Turkeys and Whitetails. I believe that hunting and fishing is a priveledge passed down from our forefathers for all to continue to enjoy. Come with us as we catch giant lake trout go above timberline in search of some of God's most spectacular animals in special places!
